Note that the top ten coal consumers use 82.2% of the world's production,
and that their consumption rose from 2002 to 2003 by 7.5% !
On a per capita basis, Australia is the highest coal consumer, at more than six times the world average.
It doesn't look like anybody is taking any notice of Kyoto except Australia does it ?
The greatest percentage increase in coal consumption was New Zealand at 41% !!!!!!
followed by Denmark at 35% and Finland at 32.5%
World consumption of oil+gas+coal rose from 2002 to 2003 by 3.5%
Australia's consumption of oil+gas+coal fell 0.5% : oil and hydro steady, gas up, coal down.
World consumption of nuclear fell from 2002 to 2003 by 2%
Japan's nuclear consumption fell by 26.7% while the rest rose 1.1%
